Amazing Sea Creatures (Part 1)

By Ember Hernandez

Today I found a really interesting type of shark I wanted to share with you. The Goblin Shark is a unique creature discovered in the 1890’s, but some people think they were there much longer. Goblin sharks are actually a passive type of shark, and there’s never been a recorded shark attack from goblin sharks.

Goblin sharks are also very different from appearance. It’s the only living creature in the family Mistsukurinidae. It is called a “living fossil” because they have lived for so long. There are theories that goblin shark evolved in some ways. For example, their mouths can extend, almost like a net, to catch fish in their way. I think this specimen, if not strange, is a very interesting type of shark. I recommend learning more about the Goblin Shark.

President Trump's Speech

By Antoinette Durand

President Trump asked why some states were on lock down, but that’s because a portion of states haven’t met the guidelines that his administration set.

"Hopefully George is looking down right now and saying, 'There's a great thing that's happening for our country.' This is a great day for him, it's a great day for everybody. This is a great day for everybody,” says President Trump. To explain, he’s saying that this is a great day for a man who was killed because of police brutality and racism. I don’t think that this is a fair or accurate thing to say. Putting words in a dead man’s mouth is, in my opinion, disgusting. This is a horrible day for everyone because racism is still rampant.

"It's very tough, very contagious, very mean to certain people," President Trump of COVID-19. COVID-19 isn’t “mean” to people. It’s a virus that likely doesn’t have a conscience.

"We'll have the greatest -- we'll go back to having the greatest economy anywhere in the world; nothing close."

Actually, we have a terrible economy right now. Businesses are going under left and right. As of May 20, 2020, the Dow was at 19,173. On November 25, 2016, the Dow was down to 19,152. The dow was as low as it’s been for four years. Currently, the economy has bounced back a little, but it’s nowhere near where it used to be. For example, on February 14 of this year, the Dow was 29,398.

Presidents You’ve Never Heard Of:Benjamin Harrison (1889-1893)

By Antoinette Durand

Born in 1833 near Cincinnati, Benjamin Harrison grew up to be a lawyer. He married Caroline Lavinia Scott in 1853.

In the Presidential election, Harrison got 100,000 fewer votes than his opponent, Cleveland, but got more Electoral votes, so Harrison won. If it weren’t for the Electoral College, Harrison wouldn’t have won.

After Harrison left office, he moved back to Indianapolis and married for the second time to Mary Dimmick in 1896.

Benjamin Harrison died in 1901 as an elder statesman.
