Hope is the Thing with Feathers

The world is a mess, and you know that. Hope is the Thing with Feathers is a poem by Emily Dickenson. Hope is important during these trying times. You need to find hope in yourself.

President Trump’s Twitter

By Antoinette Durand
NOTE: We are not going to write a story about these tweets because they speak for themselves.

The Lamestream* Media is doing everything within their power to foment hatred and anarchy. As long as everybody understands what they are doing, that they are FAKE NEWS and truly bad people with a sick agenda, we can easily work through them to GREATNESS!

*This is a play off of ‘mainstream media’. He’s calling news outlets like the New York Times, CNN, MSNBC, and others ‘lame’.

Other Democrat run Cities and States should look at the total shutdown of Radical Left Anarchists in Minneapolis last night. The National Guard did a great job, and should be used in other States before it is too late!

The National Guard has been released in Minneapolis to do the job that the Democrat Mayor couldn’t do. Should have been used 2 days ago & there would not have been damage & Police Headquarters would not have been taken over & ruined. Great job by the National Guard. No games!

Here we go again. Fake News @CNN is blaming RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA. They are sick losers with VERY bad ratings! P.S. Can’t blame China because they need the cash?

Looting leads to shooting, and that’s why a man was shot and killed in Minneapolis on Wednesday night--or just look at what happened in Louisville with 7 people shot. I don’t want this

To happen, and that’s what the expression put out last night means…

...It was spoken as a fact, not as a statement. It’s very simple, nobody should have any problem with this other than the haters, and those looking to cause trouble on social media. Honor the memory of George Floyd!

How to Draw a Rose

By Ember Hernandez

If you want to start doing art, the first recommended piece of art is a flower. It’ll teach you how to detail and shade certain places as well. Here’s some simple steps to draw a rose.

Draw an incomplete oval, with no lines at the top.

Add curved lines leading to the center, putting in extra lines for puffy parts.

Draw two lines leading down, creating the stem.

Make two leaves curving toward the flower.

Voila! Add some color and shade to make a simple rose.

Excerpt from The New Colossus

By Emma Lazarus

Notes By Antoinette Durand

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free."

These words are carved in bronze at the bottom of the Statue of Liberty. I take them to mean that America is for everyone. Not just the people who look the same, or act the same, or believe the same things.

Troop Zero

By Ember Hernandez

I’ve been watching more movies lately, and one that is beautiful is Troop Zero. It sets place in the 1970’s and in the south of the U.S. The story’s about a little girl named Christmas Flint, who loves science, but back then girls were supposed to love pink and dresses and things like that, so she got bullied a lot.

Christmas overhears the Girl Scouts saying there’s a competition and the winning Girl Scout troop gets to put their voices in a record sent out to space. She wants to win so she gathers some other misfits to win. I find this a beautiful story showing strength and love. There is some violence and swearing, so this might be a movie for you, not your siblings.

President Trump’s Speech

By Antoinette Durand

Yesterday, President Trump gave a speech about the protests. The police and national guard pushed protesters that were near the White House back with tear gas. Read the Special Issue today for the transcript. For now, I highly recommend watching the video on CNN.com.

It has a scary military feel. Trump says, “If a city or state refuses to take the actions that are necessary to defend the life and property of their residents, then I will deploy the United States military and quickly solve the problem for them. I am also taking swift and decisive action to protect our great Capitol Washington DC. What happened in this city last night was a total disgrace. As we speak, I am dispatching thousands and thousands of heavily armed soldiers, military personnel, and law enforcement offices to stop the rioting, looting, vandalism assaults and the wanton destruction of property.”
