Nike’s Statement on the Death of George Floyd
"For once, Don't Do It. Don't pretend there's not a problem in America. Don't turn your back on racism. Don't accept innocent lives being taken from us. Don't make any more excuses. Don't think this doesn't affect you. Don't sit back and be silent. Don't think you can't be part of the change. Let's all be part of the change."
Music Review Double Feature: The Kids are Coming & The Times, They Are A Changin’
By Antoinette Durand
My good friend Morgan Cook suggested to me the song, The Kids are Coming. It’s empowering. It made me feel like someone understood. My parents don’t always seem to get my outrage on society. This feels so different. We don’t just protest because it’s fun. We do have to clean up the mess of past generations. Be strong because you are strong.
The next song is The Times, They are a Chanin’. This is an old song (from the 1960’s), but it’s just as relevant today. Artist Bob Dillan was originally protesting the Vietnam War, but it holds up with racism, sexism, and many other issues. It has a country feel, and an honest message.
Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is rapidly agin'
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'.
That was an excerpt from the song. It means that our generation is the one that will make change.
Birthday Crafts
By Phillip Collin
An example of my favorite type of cake: red velvet. For die-hard Disney fans, you could create their favorite characters out of fondant.
You could assemble a drive-by parade for the birthday boy/girl or a Google Meet.
You could text, call, or even mail someone you know asking for a present to surprise the birthday boy/girl.
That's all I have for now. Enjoy the tips and tricks!
If We Must Die
By Claude McKay
If we must die, let it not be like hogs
Hunted and penned in an inglorious spot,
While round us bark the mad and hungry dogs,
Making their mock at our accursèd lot.
If we must die, O let us nobly die,
So that our precious blood may not be shed
In vain; then even the monsters we defy
Shall be constrained to honor us though dead!
O kinsmen! we must meet the common foe!
Though far outnumbered let us show us brave,
And for their thousand blows deal one death-blow!
What though before us lies the open grave?
Like men we’ll face the murderous, cowardly pack,
Pressed to the wall, dying, but fighting back!
Sketching

Sketching helps me relax, especially during the pandemic. I love drawing fashion and clothes, but sometimes, I get stuck.
